:: Family-Ville ::

On the impending arrival of our second child we had decided that our Nissan Sentra (also known as Sexy Sentra) was no longer going to accommodate our growing family – So, we put the Sentra up for sale and had a very serious buyer back in the early part of February, however the deal didn’t go through so we put it back in the buy&sell – with no worries, we still had plenty of time to sell.

Then one day our neighbours C & J stated that they were looking for a new car as they are expecting their first child and C will need their current car to drive into Burnaby with. With their interest they took it out for a spin and we came to an agreement on price and the Sentra is SOLD! So we had two weeks to find a vehicle (between packing, choosing carpets, paint, and designing a new kitchen – it was all a little overwhelming). However, yesterday Paul took me to see this beauty at Southgate Auto and we struck a deal and bam we’re in “Family-Ville”.

Here are the stats on our new van:
2002 FORD WINDSTAR SPORT(CAN), 88000kms, 5dr, Red, Automatic, FWD, 3.8L, Cylinder 6, Gas, Air Conditioning, Alarm, Alloy Wheels, AM/FM Stereo, Anti-Lock Brakes, Anti-Theft, Backup Sensor, Bucket Seats, Cassette, CD Changer, CD Player, Cruise Control, Dual Air Bag, Dual Climate Controls, Fog Lights, Heated Mirrors, Intermittent Wipers, Keyless Entry, Leather Interior, Power Brakes, Power Locks, Power Mirrors, Power Seat, Power Steering, Power Windows, Quad Seating, Rear Air & Heat, Rear Defroster, Roof Rack, Split Folding Rear Seats, Tilt Wheel, Tinted Glass, Tow Package, Traction Control, Local van no accidents, new BF Goodrich tires, in exc cond all around.

We have yet to pick up our new car as we are waiting to settle the money with C & J but we should have it by mid week. We are very excited because we got a great deal for a great van and truly feel that God set up the timing just perfectly (there was another couple that drove onto the lot seconds after us but we were there just in the nick of time and were thankful we didn’t stop to get a coffee on the way!).

Well, I must say that I have never been a fan of minivans, but now with 2 kids, a stroller, etc... it just doesn't see SO terrible anymore :)
Looks like you found a beauty, and it will be so great for you to have the extra room, especially because you'll need a bigger stroller, or have 2, lots of diapers, the list goes on and on...
You guys definitely have a full schedule these days...still waiting for a call for HELP from you !!

I can't believe you joined the mini van club!!! Phil and I still maintain that we will never buy one.... we are convinced that an SUV will always be able to accomodate us. I hope that it's true!
Looks like a great van and I'm sure that you will enjoy it and pack it with many babies over the next few years! :)

Congrats on the new van!
You know what they say, friends who have Red Windstars stick together. Just think of how much MORE stuff we can pack in on our shopping trips to the great USA!!!

While I too was an anti-van person (an still am as a matter of fact!) the sheer practicality of the van for space, accessability to the kids and gas milage makes it the logical choice. But one day, one day, maybe I'll get the 7 seater Mercedes ML diesel I dream of :-)

"This van is sexy, this van is sexy, this van IS sexy"....chants Kristin daily as she scoots around town in her (gasp!) minivan!!! Yep, not so sexy, but oh-so-practical! And yes, you can get way more stuff into it on shopping trips...so that is sooooo worth going over to the "van side"!!!!

I would like to officially welcome you to the "I will never get a minivan ...oh well maybe just for a few years, club"

We always said we would get a 7 seat SUV when we needed more seats. But have you ever tried to put a child into a carseat in the third row of seats? Well if you have you probably own a minivan now. It is virtually impossible unless you have a very strong back, have a really small behind(becasue it sticks out the door as you lunge into the backseat and stretch and maneuver your child into their seat)and really have a lot of energy, becasue after getting the child in, there in no need for a cardio workout :-)

Also, there is no room for a stroller if you need that thrid row seat, not to mention the playpen, groceries and dozens of shopping bags from that trip to the mall.

You will be happy with the versitility of your van. You might not feel as "cool" as you used to. But hey just think how great it will be in the years to come when your kids leave home and you can buy whatever car you want, this time a super sexy sportster! And lets be honest, who won't think you are cool? We all drive minivans ourselves!

Hey Guys!
Congrats on the new ride.......It's so funny reading all the other comments because that's exactly how I've always felt about mini-vans so I'm not going to say I will never get one because I may one day eat my words.
Can't wait to see you Sunday!
